Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has initiated a renewed campaign to enhance diesel efficiency and reduce operational expenses through improved maintenance practices and responsible fuel management. This move comes as global fuel prices continue to rise, exerting increasing pressure on public transport operations.
Seminar on Diesel Management
Addressing a Diesel Management Awareness Seminar organized by Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) at Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad, TGSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Y Nagi Reddy highlighted the significant impact of rising diesel prices on the corporation's finances due to prevailing international conditions. He stressed the importance of regulating fuel consumption and preventing wastage to overcome the growing financial burden.
Call for Employee Participation
Nagi Reddy urged employees at all levels to prioritize fuel conservation and leverage technology at the depot level to enhance operational efficiency. He directed officials and technical staff to focus on vehicle fitness, adopt best maintenance practices, and ensure timely upkeep of buses to maximize mileage. Emphasizing that fuel conservation should not be viewed merely as an official responsibility, he noted that every employee has a social responsibility to save diesel. Efficient fuel usage, he added, would not only strengthen the corporation financially but also contribute to environmental protection.
Expert Guidance
During the seminar, experts briefed staff on scientific diesel management practices, precautions for maintaining ground fuel tanks at depots, and methods to improve buses' kilometre-per-litre (KMPL) performance. They also explained ways to identify and rectify technical faults in garages at an early stage to prevent fuel loss and improve efficiency.
