UPI Achieves Milestone with 2,264 Crore Transactions in March 2026
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) continued its impressive growth trajectory in March 2026, recording a total of 2,264 crore transactions. This represents a significant increase of 11.02% compared to the 2,039.4 crore transactions processed in February 2026. In terms of monetary value, the network saw a rise of 10%, reaching Rs 29.53 lakh crore from Rs 26.84 lakh crore in the previous month.
Daily Transaction Trends and Monthly Analysis
On a daily basis, UPI handled an average of 73 crore transactions throughout March 2026, slightly up from 72.8 crore per day in February. The average daily value for March stood at Rs 95,243.29 crore, which reflects a marginal decline of 0.6% from Rs 95,865.33 crore in February. This slight dip in daily value can be attributed to the distribution of the higher monthly total across the longer 31-day period in March, showcasing the network's consistent performance despite calendar variations.
Fiscal Year 2026 Overview and Long-Term Growth
For the entire fiscal year 2026, UPI demonstrated remarkable scalability, processing approximately 24,160 crore transactions with a cumulative value of about Rs 308 lakh crore. Breaking this down, the daily averages for FY26 were 66.2 crore transactions valued at Rs 84,383 crore. These figures underscore UPI's pivotal role in India's digital economy, driving financial inclusion and efficiency across the nation.
The sustained expansion of UPI highlights its dominance in the payments landscape, with transaction volumes and values consistently climbing month-over-month. As digital adoption accelerates, UPI remains at the forefront, facilitating seamless and secure transactions for millions of users daily.
