The Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation has announced a hike in Vita milk prices, effective from May 20. The increase ranges from Rs 1 to Rs 24 per litre across various variants, including full cream, toned, double toned, and skimmed milk.
Price Revision Details
The revised prices will see full cream milk (6% fat) costing Rs 76 per litre, up by Rs 3. Toned milk (3% fat) will now be Rs 64 per litre, an increase of Rs 2. Double toned milk (1.5% fat) is priced at Rs 56 per litre, up by Rs 1. Skimmed milk (0.5% fat) will cost Rs 52 per litre, a hike of Rs 1.
Additionally, the price of Vita Gold (4.5% fat) has been increased by Rs 24 per litre, bringing it to Rs 100 per litre. Vita Slim (0.5% fat) sees a rise of Rs 1 to Rs 52 per litre.
Reason for Price Hike
The federation cited rising input costs, including fodder, transportation, and packaging materials, as the primary reason for the price revision. The move aims to ensure fair returns to dairy farmers and maintain the quality of milk supply.
Consumers have expressed concern over the frequent price hikes, which add to the household budget burden. However, the federation assured that the increase is minimal compared to other dairy brands in the market.
The new rates are applicable across all Vita milk outlets in Haryana. The federation also stated that it will continue to provide subsidized milk to economically weaker sections through its special schemes.
