Bengaluru: Quick commerce platform Bigbasket has appointed Amit Nanda as its Chief Executive Officer, replacing co-founder Hari Menon. Menon will transition to a mentorship and board role after leading the company since its inception.

Leadership Transition Marks New Chapter

The leadership change represents a significant milestone for Bigbasket as it aims to accelerate growth and strengthen its position in India's rapidly expanding quick commerce market. Nanda brings over two decades of leadership experience across e-commerce, consumer goods, and consumer banking.

Amit Nanda's Background

Nanda joins from Amazon India, where he served as Director of Selling Partner Services, overseeing one of the company's largest businesses and India's third-party marketplace ecosystem. During his 11-year tenure at Amazon, he held several leadership roles spanning marketplace operations, product development, technology, and private brands. He also played a key role in building and scaling Amazon India's owned brands portfolio.

Future Focus

As CEO, Nanda will lead Bigbasket's next phase of growth, concentrating on strengthening the company's quick commerce business, accelerating innovation across operations, and enhancing customer value and convenience.

Announcing the transition, Menon said Nanda's experience and leadership credentials make him the right choice to guide the company through its next chapter. “His deep understanding of consumers, strong track record of building and scaling businesses, and extensive experience across e-commerce and consumer sectors make him uniquely positioned to lead Bigbasket for its journey ahead.”

Menon added that he would continue to work closely with Nanda and the leadership team as a mentor and member of the board, remaining actively involved in the company's long-term strategy.

Sajith Sivanandan, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Digital and Chairman of Bigbasket, said Nanda's experience in building large-scale businesses and driving technology and product strategy would help propel the company forward. “Bigbasket plays a critical role in Tata Digital's consumer ecosystem, and I look forward to working closely with Amit as the company continues to strengthen its position, expand its reach, and accelerate its ambitions,” Sivanandan said.
