SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant Launches 160 Internship Positions Under PMIS Phase III
The Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a key operational unit of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), has officially announced the opening of 160 internship positions as part of Phase III of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). This strategic initiative is specifically designed to boost the employability of young individuals by providing them with valuable hands-on industrial exposure and practical experience within a major public sector enterprise.
Stipend and Funding Details
According to Manikant Dhan, the Chief of Communication at BSL, selected candidates for these internships will receive a monthly stipend of approximately Rs 9,000. This financial support is a collaborative effort, jointly funded by the Government of India and the company itself. Dhan emphasized that the core objective of this program is to effectively equip participants with practical skills that are directly aligned with current industry requirements and standards.
Diverse Internship Domains and Eligibility Criteria
The internship opportunities at Bokaro Steel Plant span a wide array of both technical and non-technical domains, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. The available fields include:
- Technical Disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Fitter, Welder, Turner, Civil Engineering, Instrumentation, Power Distribution, and Metallurgy.
- Non-Technical Disciplines: Logistics, Human Resources (HR), Computer Operations, and Programming Assistance.
Eligibility for these positions is broad and inclusive. Applicants who have completed ITI courses, diploma programs, graduate degrees (such as BSc, BCA, or BA), or even those who have passed Class 12 are encouraged to apply. The internship program is structured to last for a duration of nine months, providing an extended period for skill development and industrial immersion.

The application window for these coveted internship positions is now open. Prospective candidates can submit their applications starting from April 1, 2026. The deadline for submissions is set for April 25, 2026.
