RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of India's top-performing logistics destinations, earning the 'high performer' tag among landlocked states in the LEADS 2025 report released by the Centre's department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT).
Recognition Boosts State's Investment Appeal
The recognition places Chhattisgarh alongside established industrial states such as Haryana and Telangana, marking a significant boost to the state's efforts to position itself as a major logistics and investment hub in central India. Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the ranking reflected the state govt's focus on infrastructure expansion, industrial connectivity and governance reforms. "This recognition shows Chhattisgarh is rapidly emerging as a key logistics and industrial centre of the country," he said.
Understanding the LEADS Framework
The logistics ease across different states (LEADS) framework evaluates states on logistics infrastructure, services, regulatory environment and sustainability of logistics systems. Officials said Chhattisgarh's inclusion in the high performer category indicates smoother cargo movement, improved industrial efficiency and stronger supply chain systems.
State Reforms and Policies
The state govt has in recent years pushed a series of logistics reforms, including the rollout of the Chhattisgarh state logistics policy 2025 aimed at reducing logistics costs, strengthening multimodal connectivity and improving warehousing and supply-chain infrastructure. Officials said the state has also granted "industry status" to the logistics and warehousing sector to attract private investment and create employment opportunities.
Urban Logistics Planning
As part of its urban logistics planning, the govt has prepared a city logistics plan for Raipur focused on easing freight movement, reducing congestion and improving transport planning. Sai said the govt was further streamlining clearances through a "one-click" single-window system to improve ease of doing business and speed up industrial approvals.
This achievement underscores Chhattisgarh's commitment to becoming a logistics powerhouse, leveraging its central location and policy reforms to drive economic growth.
