Chhattisgarh Fuel Supply Steady, Raids Target Hoarding

Chhattisgarh Maintains Robust Fuel Supply Chain Amid Global Uncertainties

In response to rising concerns over potential fuel disruptions triggered by geopolitical instability, public sector oil marketing companies have assured that Chhattisgarh is experiencing uninterrupted supplies of LPG, petrol, and diesel. Concurrently, the state government has intensified enforcement actions to combat black marketing, hoarding, and panic buying driven by rumors.

Steady LPG Deliveries and Adequate Infrastructure

A statement released by the state-level coordinator for the oil industry in Chhattisgarh confirmed that domestic LPG delivery operations are proceeding normally. Oil firms are currently distributing approximately 72,000 LPG cylinders per day across the state, aligning with regular consumer demand patterns.

Officials highlighted that Chhattisgarh possesses sufficient bottling and storage capabilities, supported by five LPG bottling plants and a widespread network of 539 distributors serving consumers efficiently. The state is home to around 63.59 lakh LPG consumers, and supply chains are being continuously monitored in close coordination with the central government.

Supply Metrics and Demand Normalization

In March, Chhattisgarh received 35,073 tonnes of domestic LPG against a requirement of 35,000 tonnes, ensuring a slight surplus. Notably, the average daily booking load, which had spiked from 74,000 to 1.3 lakh in the second week of March due to panic and rumors, has now decreased to about 64,000. This decline indicates a return to normal demand levels, reflecting reduced public anxiety.

Commercial LPG supplies are also reported as adequate. For April, the state had 1,745 tonnes available against a requirement of 1,533 tonnes, with 885 tonnes already supplied to commercial consumers by April 19. Oil companies have emphasized that both domestic and commercial needs are being fully met, with no imminent shortages anticipated.

Enforcement Actions and Public Awareness

On the enforcement front, authorities have conducted 419 raids across various districts, resulting in the seizure of 3,946 cylinders and the registration of 105 FIRs. Surprise inspections have been carried out at LPG distributorships following complaints received via social media and direct customer feedback.

To enhance oversight, control rooms have been established at both state and district levels, and a dedicated departmental helpline has been made operational to address public complaints promptly. Officials urge consumers to disregard rumors, avoid unnecessary queuing, and refrain from panic buying, reaffirming that fuel supplies remain normal and stable.

Commitment to Uninterrupted Fuel Availability

Oil marketing companies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining seamless availability of cooking gas and transport fuels throughout Chhattisgarh. With robust infrastructure and proactive monitoring, the state is well-positioned to navigate any challenges posed by global volatility, ensuring that residents continue to receive essential fuels without disruption.
