IGL Cuts PNG Price by Rs 0.70 per SCM for Delhi-NCR Homes from New Year
IGL Reduces Domestic PNG Prices in Delhi-NCR

Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have received a New Year gift in the form of cheaper cooking gas. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the city gas distributor, has announced a significant reduction in the price of domestic piped natural gas (PNG) for households across the region.

Revised PNG Rates for Key Cities

The price revision, which comes into effect from the New Year, entails a cut of Rs 0.70 per standard cubic metre (SCM). This move is expected to provide direct financial relief to a vast number of residential consumers who rely on PNG for their daily cooking needs. The reduction aligns with broader trends in energy pricing and aims to make clean cooking fuel more affordable.

Following this adjustment, the new domestic PNG tariffs have been set. In the national capital, consumers will now pay Rs 47.89 per SCM. For residents of Gurugram, the revised price stands at Rs 46.70 per SCM. Meanwhile, households in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad will be charged Rs 47.76 per SCM for their piped gas supply.

Impact and Consumer Relief

This price cut by IGL is a welcome development for family budgets, especially amid fluctuating living costs. Piped natural gas is considered a safer, more convenient, and environmentally cleaner alternative to traditional cooking fuels like LPG cylinders. A reduction in its price not only eases the monthly expense burden but also encourages more households to adopt this efficient energy source.

The decision reflects IGL's responsiveness to market dynamics and its commitment to its large consumer base in one of India's most populous metropolitan areas. The company manages the distribution network for PNG and compressed natural gas (CNG) across Delhi and several NCR towns.

Looking Ahead

While this revision brings immediate relief, energy prices remain subject to global market conditions and government policies. Consumers and industry watchers will be keenly observing future trends to see if this marks the beginning of a longer period of stability or further reductions in gas prices. For now, the New Year begins on a slightly lighter note for the kitchen budgets of millions in Delhi-NCR.
