IndiGo Launches 'Gesture of Care' Vouchers for Passengers Hit by December Delays
IndiGo Offers Rs 10,000 Vouchers for December Flight Disruptions

In a significant move to address customer grievances, Indian aviation leader IndiGo has formally introduced its 'Gesture of Care' (GoC) compensation package. This initiative is a direct response to the widespread operational challenges the airline faced in early December 2025, which resulted in thousands of passengers experiencing prolonged delays and cancellations.

What is the 'Gesture of Care' Package?

The 'Gesture of Care' is IndiGo's commitment to assist customers who were scheduled to travel and found themselves severely impacted and stranded due to the operational issues. The package specifically covers flights that were severely disrupted between noon on December 3 and the end of December 5, 2025. To be eligible, the delay or cancellation must have occurred within four hours of the scheduled departure, ultimately causing a delay exceeding three hours.

"Caring for our customers remains our greatest focus," stated the airline. "Our Gesture of Care is an expression of IndiGo’s commitment to facilitate customers on eligible flights."

Compensation Details and Eligibility

Under this programme, each eligible passenger will receive a travel voucher worth INR 10,000, provided in two denominations of INR 5,000 each. This compensation extends to all passengers on the booking, including minors and infants. For children, the vouchers will be issued to their parents or guardians.

The vouchers are issued per customer. This means a family of three traveling on the same booking would receive three separate sets of vouchers, totaling INR 30,000 in value. The airline has clarified that the vouchers are single-use, non-transferable, and linked to the individual passenger's name.

How to Use the IndiGo Vouchers

Passengers have considerable flexibility in using the compensation. The vouchers are valid for twelve months from the date of issuance. They can be used to book flights for any travel date, even if the journey itself falls beyond the voucher's validity period, as long as the booking is made within the one-year window.

Beyond flight tickets, the vouchers can also be redeemed for a variety of ancillary services. This includes pre-booked meals, seat selection, and excess baggage allowances. All redemptions must be made through IndiGo's official website. The airline has also stated that there are no restrictions based on fare class, blackout dates, or type of booking.

Regarding distribution, eligible passengers will receive their vouchers via email containing a secure link. For customers whose email addresses are not registered with the airline, the vouchers will be dispatched within 24 hours of updating their contact details in the system.

This structured compensation package marks a proactive step by IndiGo to rebuild customer trust after the December disruptions, offering tangible relief to those most affected by the airline's operational hurdles.
