MMRDA and KDMC Launch Joint Survey for Dombivli Station Area Traffic Improvement
MMRDA and KDMC Launch Survey for Dombivli Station Traffic Plan

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) have jointly commenced a survey of the Dombivli railway station area as part of the Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project. This initiative aims to address the growing traffic congestion and urban development challenges in the region.

Project Scope and Land Utilisation

According to sources, the proposed SATIS project will involve the integrated utilisation of various land parcels in the vicinity. These include the KDMC building, Ramnagar and Vishnunagar police stations, and surrounding open spaces. The goal is to create a modern transit-oriented infrastructure facility that incorporates parking areas, improved pedestrian movement, and organised traffic circulation. Officials have stated that the ongoing survey is crucial for finalising planning and assessing the available land parcels around the Dombivli railway station precinct.

Population Growth and Political Push

With Dombivli experiencing a significant population boom, Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde has directed MMRDA officials to expedite the project. The SATIS project is being viewed as a key infrastructure initiative for Dombivli’s future transport planning and urban development. The survey marks an important step towards transforming the station area into a more efficient and pedestrian-friendly hub.
