NCR earns Rs 103.96 crore from scrap disposal in Q1

Prayagraj: North Central Railway (NCR) has achieved a new milestone in scrap disposal and sales, generating Rs 103.96 crore in revenue during the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2026-27. This figure accounts for over one-third of the annual target of Rs 285 crore set by the Railway Board, marking a 117% increase from the Rs 47.94 crore earned in the same period last year.

Accelerated Scrap Disposal Drives Revenue

The substantial revenue growth is credited to the expedited pace of scrap disposal. This performance aligns with the Railway Board's nationwide 'Zero Scrap Mission,' which aims to clean railway premises, workshops, and stations by removing obsolete materials. NCR has emerged as a leading zone in implementing this initiative through transparent and efficient e-auction processes.

Benefits Beyond Revenue

Officials highlighted that prompt scrap disposal not only generates significant non-fare revenue but also frees up valuable land and workspace previously occupied by unusable materials. According to Senior PRO of NCR, Amit Malviya, the momentum of e-auctions and speedy scrap disposal will be maintained in the coming months.
