Railway Drive at Bakhtiyarpur Fines 364, Collects Rs 2 Lakh

A major ticket-checking drive was conducted at Bakhtiyarpur railway station under the Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) on Monday, resulting in penalties for 364 passengers. The passengers were found travelling without valid tickets or violating reservation rules, leading to the collection of nearly Rs 2 lakh in fines.

Details of the Drive

Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth stated that railway ticket-checking staff, assisted by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, carried out extensive inspections on several important trains passing through Bakhtiyarpur station. To facilitate the checking drive, train stoppage timings at the station were extended.

Objective of the Campaign

The campaign was launched to ensure a comfortable journey for genuine passengers travelling in reserved AC and sleeper coaches during the ongoing summer rush. Railway officials emphasised that the operation aimed to curb unauthorised travel and illegal occupation of reserved compartments. Special attention was given to overcrowded trains following a rise in complaints regarding unauthorised passengers entering reserved coaches in recent weeks.

Execution and Impact

Ticket examiners and RPF personnel jointly inspected coaches and verified passenger tickets to maintain order and ensure passenger convenience. Abhinav Siddarth said, “Such intensive drives will continue across the division in the coming days to enforce travel discipline and provide hassle-free journeys to passengers during the busy summer travel season.”

The drive at Bakhtiyarpur is part of a broader initiative by the railways to improve passenger experience and reduce rule violations. By penalising offenders and collecting fines, the railways aim to deter future violations and promote lawful travel. The success of this operation underscores the commitment of railway authorities to uphold travel discipline and ensure safety and comfort for all passengers.
