Rajasthan Oil Officials Confirm Stable Fuel Supply Amid Global Disruption Concerns
In response to growing concerns over potential global supply chain disruptions, senior officials from the oil industry in Rajasthan have issued a firm assurance that there is no current shortage of essential fuels across the state. During a press briefing held on Monday, industry leaders emphasized that supplies of LPG, petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) are being meticulously monitored and maintained without interruption.
Supply Stability Maintained Despite Geopolitical Tensions
Manoj Gupta, the executive director and state head who serves as the state-level coordinator for the oil industry, addressed the media to clarify the situation. He stated that despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have raised alarms globally, the fuel supply scenario in Rajasthan remains firmly under control. Gupta highlighted that even as consumer demand has shown a noticeable increase, the supply chain has managed to stay stable and robust.
"Even as demand has picked up, supply remains stable. Diesel consumption growth rose to 21.5% in March 2026 compared to 3.9% during the period from April 2025 to February 2026," Gupta explained, providing specific data to underscore the resilience of the supply network.
Adequate Stocks and Real-Time Coordination
Officials further detailed that ample stocks of petrol and diesel are readily available at all retail outlets and storage depots throughout Rajasthan. The state benefits from a network of 12 supply depots operated by public sector oil marketing companies, which work in tandem to ensure uninterrupted replenishment across various districts. This infrastructure plays a critical role in maintaining a steady flow of fuels to meet local needs.
In addition, oil companies are engaged in continuous, real-time coordination with the state government. This collaborative effort involves sharing up-to-the-minute data to align supply precisely with fluctuating demand patterns, thereby preventing any potential shortages.
Aviation and LPG Supplies Also Secure
The availability of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) is reported to be stable, with current stocks sufficient to cover approximately 30 days of operations at aviation locations. Continuous replenishment mechanisms are firmly in place to support this sector without disruption.
Regarding LPG, officials confirmed that domestic cylinders are being delivered according to bookings through a comprehensive and efficient network. This system includes 13 bottling plants, 1,376 distributors, and over 11,000 delivery personnel, collectively catering to nearly 1.85 crore consumers across Rajasthan.
"Despite high demand and panic bookings, supply is being maintained through continuous monitoring. The average backlog is around four days," Gupta noted, addressing concerns about potential delays.
Push for Cleaner Fuels and Inclusive Access
The government is also actively promoting inclusive and cleaner fuel access as part of its broader energy strategy. Initiatives such as the distribution of 5-kg free-trade LPG cylinders to migrant workers and small vendors are currently underway, following established guidelines to ensure equitable access.
Furthermore, there has been a significant surge in the adoption of cleaner fuels, as evidenced by auto LPG consumption reaching 607 metric tonnes in 2026—a remarkable 363% increase from previous levels. This trend indicates a growing shift towards more sustainable energy options among consumers and businesses alike.
Meanwhile, supply to commercial LPG users is being maintained at about 70% of pre-crisis levels, reflecting a balanced approach to managing resources amid heightened demand.
In summary, oil industry officials in Rajasthan have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable fuel supply, leveraging robust infrastructure, real-time data sharing, and strategic coordination to navigate global uncertainties effectively.
