Raymond Group Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Hari Singhania has sustained minor injuries following a speedboat accident in the Maldives. He is currently recuperating under medical supervision in Mumbai, as confirmed by his spokesperson on Friday.
Details of the Speedboat Capsize
According to reports from the Maldives, a speedboat carrying tourists capsized near V Felidhoo early on Friday morning. The vessel was transporting seven individuals, including two women from the United Kingdom and Russia, along with five men from India. Among the passengers was Gautam Singhania, who has since been rescued.
In a statement, Singhania's spokesperson expressed, "Gautam Singhania suffered minor injuries following an unfortunate accident. He is recovering under due care in Mumbai." The spokesperson added, "We thank you for the wishes and pray for the well-being of the affected friends."
Ongoing Search for Missing Individuals
While Singhania has been safely recovered, the incident has left two other Indian men missing. One of the missing individuals is identified as rally driver Hari Singh. Local authorities have initiated search operations to locate them.
Media reports indicate that five people were swept into the sea during the accident. This group comprised a Russian woman and four Indian men. Efforts are ongoing to account for all individuals involved in this distressing event.
