The Telangana government has enhanced the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all electricity employees by 1.621%, raising it from 17.651% to 19.272%. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday. Employees, artisans, and pensioners of all power utilities under the energy department will receive the revised DA effective from January 1 this year.
The DA hike will impose an additional financial burden of approximately Rs 9.35 crore per month on the state exchequer. A total of 70,804 employees and pensioners working in power sector organizations will benefit from this enhancement.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the performance of the power sector. He directed officials to remain fully prepared to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience during the monsoon season. He also advised them to develop a robust infrastructure plan for the power sector with a vision for the next ten years.
Bhatti appreciated the efforts of officials and employees in ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer despite record-high demand. He noted that the peak power demand reached 18,548 MW on March 27. However, through advance planning and efficient management, officials and staff successfully met the demand without any disruption in power supply.
This DA revision is expected to provide significant relief to power sector employees and pensioners, acknowledging their contributions to maintaining reliable electricity services in the state.
