The Telangana government has provided significant relief to its employees by releasing Rs 1,000 crore to clear pending dues. On the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, the funds were disbursed on Wednesday, fulfilling a promise made in the state assembly.
Increased Monthly Allocation
The government had earlier committed to releasing Rs 700 crore per month. However, after assessing the financial needs and difficulties faced by employees, the Deputy Chief Minister decided to increase the monthly allocation to Rs 1,000 crore from the current financial year. As part of this enhanced commitment, Rs 1,000 crore has been released for April.
Clearing Pending Dues
With the released funds, all pending General Provident Fund (GPF) dues of retired employees up to October 2025 have been cleared. This provides substantial relief to many senior citizens who were awaiting their benefits. The government has also prioritised the processing of medical bills and scholarship payments, ensuring no further delays.
Honouring Commitments
Last year, during discussions with employee unions, the government had promised to release Rs 700 crore per month. The government honoured its commitment and made monthly payments up to March 2026. However, after observing the ongoing financial needs, the monthly allocation was increased.
Employee Unions Welcome Move
Employee unions have welcomed the release of funds. The move is seen as a significant step towards addressing the financial challenges faced by government employees, particularly retired personnel who rely on GPF and other benefits.
This development comes as a major relief for thousands of government employees across the state, ensuring timely payment of their legitimate dues.
