Two Brothers Arrested for ₹30 Crore Scam

Chennai: The crime branch police in Tiruvallur district have arrested two brothers for operating a finance company that collected nearly ₹30 crore from more than 200 individuals. The duo promised to double their investments but later failed to repay the deposits.

Details of the Arrest

Kannan, 52, and his brother Kamaladas, 49, residents of Villivakkam, ran the company in Tiruvallur for five years. To gain trust, they initially paid double the amount to early investors. Police revealed that a network of agents was later engaged to mobilize deposits. However, when the schemes matured, the company failed to repay the promised amounts, prompting investors to approach the district crime branch.

Investigation and Broader Operations

Inquiries uncovered that the duo operated similar finance establishments in Trichy, Madurai, Sivaganga, Karur, and Salem. The brothers were arrested and lodged in Puzhal prison.
