A tragic incident occurred in Sivaganga district on Wednesday, where a 57-year-old construction worker lost his life after a wall collapsed on him during demolition work at a house in Manamadurai.
Details of the Incident
The deceased has been identified as Karuppiah, a resident of Annavasal village near Manamadurai. According to police, Karuppiah was engaged in pulling down an old structure at the residence of Chandru on Alagar Kovil Street when the wall suddenly gave way, trapping him under the debris.
Karuppiah suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Fire and rescue services personnel were called to the scene, who recovered the body from the rubble. The body has been sent to the Sivaganga Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
