While official reports indicate a recovery in the LPG booking and delivery system in Bhopal, residents are experiencing little relief on the ground. The temporary disruption has led to a permanent increase in street food prices across the city, creating a new financial burden for daily consumers.

Persistent Price Hikes Across Key Locations

From MP Nagar to Shahpura and 10 No. Market, the cost of everyday items has climbed significantly. A cup of tea that previously cost Rs 15 now demands Rs 20, while a plate of poha carries an additional Rs 5-10 premium. Vendors have implemented these increases without providing explanations or timelines for potential reductions, leaving customers to absorb the higher costs.

"The costs of the crisis seem selective," observes Rajesh Tiwari, a regular office-goer. "If supply is genuinely improving, why are consumers still paying inflated prices? Why does the common customer always become the adjustment point?"

Unregulated Sector Leaves Consumers Vulnerable

The street food industry operates without formal price regulation, existing in an unorganized sector that lacks standard safeguards. This absence of oversight allows vendors to maintain higher prices even after the initial crisis has subsided.

"You can't argue at every stall," explains Neha Verma, a corporate employee. "The choice is simple: pay the increased amount or skip a meal. When this becomes a daily occurrence, it significantly impacts household budgets. This is no longer a temporary situation."

Crisis Origins and Lasting Impact

The price increases originated when LPG bookings stalled, customer service calls went unanswered, and cylinder deliveries slowed to a crawl. Small vendors faced immediate operational crises, prompting rapid price adjustments that have now become entrenched.

"Prices escalate rapidly in our country but rarely decline," notes Riddhi Sharma, a college student. "While the supply situation shows improvement, the financial burden has simply been transferred to consumers."

Uneven Impact Across Food Service Sector

What intensifies resident frustration is the disproportionate effect across different food establishments. While roadside stalls have implemented near-universal price increases, larger restaurants and hotels have largely maintained their original menu prices, absorbing the disruption without visibly passing costs to customers.

This disparity highlights how unorganized sectors can perpetuate price inflation even after supply chain issues resolve, leaving regular consumers to bear the lasting consequences of temporary disruptions.
