Indore: Madhya Pradesh's merchandise exports rose by 3.95 percent to Rs 68,837.01 crore in the financial year 2025-26, fueled by increased shipments of pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and value-added products. Strong growth in exports of engines and respiratory medicines helped offset a sharp decline in aluminium and soyabean meal exports.
According to data compiled by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the state's exports increased from Rs 66,220.14 crore in FY 2024-25. Madhya Pradesh retained its 13th position among states and accounted for 1.76 percent of India's total exports.
"Madhya Pradesh's export performance has shown remarkable resilience despite global trade uncertainties. The growth in pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, processed foods, electrical equipment, and specialty chemicals reflects increasing value addition and diversification. With rising industrial investments and new opportunities from free trade agreements and global supply chain shifts, the state is well placed to emerge as a major manufacturing and export hub," said Ajay Sahai, FIEO director general and CEO.
The United States remained the largest overseas market for Madhya Pradesh, absorbing 19.44 percent of exports, followed by Bangladesh, UAE, and Germany. The top 10 destinations accounted for 50.37 percent of the state's outbound shipments.
Drug formulations and biologicals remained the state's largest export segment, contributing 19.19 percent of total exports. Pharmaceutical exports rose 3.51 percent to $663.55 million during the year.
Cotton fabrics and yarn together accounted for more than 10 percent of the export basket, while rice, oil meals, engineering products, and construction machinery were also among the major contributors.
Among the districts, Dhar emerged as the state's export hub, accounting for 35.92 percent of total exports, followed by Indore with 12.45 percent and Raisen with 11.21 percent. Together, the top 10 districts contributed nearly 88 percent of Madhya Pradesh's exports.
Some traditional export drivers witnessed a decline. Exports of aluminium ingots fell 25.03 percent to $386.7 million, while soyabean meal shipments dropped 42.66 percent to $301.75 million.
Exports from the state were routed mainly through Nhava Sheva port, ICD Mandideep, and ICD Pithampur, underlining the importance of inland logistics infrastructure in supporting trade.
