Lucknow: In a major boost to rail connectivity in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Indian Railways will introduce several new train services from June 19, following the request of UP energy minister Arvind Kumar Sharma. The move is aimed at improving transportation links across Purvanchal region and providing better travel options for passengers.
Key Initiatives
One of the key initiatives is the extension of the newly introduced Dohrighat–Aunrihar MEMU train up to Varanasi City. The extension is expected to enhance local rail connectivity between eastern UP districts and the region’s major urban centre.
Additionally, the Mau–Anand Vihar train will begin regular operations from Mau, providing passengers with a direct rail link to Anand Vihar Terminal in the national capital.
New Services
Railways will also introduce a new Chhapra–Anand Vihar train via Mau, creating an additional link between eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhapra and Delhi. The new services are expected to benefit daily commuters, students, traders and long-distance travellers.
Regional Impact
Officials said the expanded rail network will strengthen transportation infrastructure in Purvanchal, improve accessibility and support regional economic and social development.
