Pralhad Joshi assures fertilizer supply for Karnataka Kharif

Despite global disruptions, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has assured that Karnataka has sufficient fertilizer supply for the Kharif 2026 season. Against a pro-rata requirement of 3.13 lakh tonnes of urea as of June 10, the availability of 5.59 lakh tonnes was ensured. Even after sales of 2.47 lakh tonnes, the closing stock remains at 3.12 lakh metric tonnes, with an additional 17,190 metric tonnes in transit.

Assurance Amid Global Challenges

Joshi emphasized that the state government has taken proactive measures to maintain adequate stock levels despite global supply chain disruptions. The minister highlighted that the buffer stock is more than sufficient to meet the upcoming demand during the peak sowing season.

Stock Management and Distribution

The data indicates that the total availability, including stocks in transit, far exceeds the current requirement. This ensures that farmers will not face any shortage of urea during the critical Kharif period. The government has also set up monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely distribution across all districts.
