Water Supply Disruption in Tripunithura Due to KWA Pipeline Repair
Kochi: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has announced a disruption in water supply to the Tripunithura municipality area from Friday to Sunday due to repair works on its main pipeline at Karingachira. According to KWA authorities, the supply is expected to resume on Sunday night. However, sources within KWA indicated that the repair might take longer than anticipated.
Details of the Repair Work
The leak in the main pipeline, which transports water from the pumphouse at Karingachira to Tripunithura town, was detected two weeks ago. Initial attempts to repair it were unsuccessful as the leak turned out to be significant. The pipeline runs beneath railway lines in the area, necessitating permission from the railway authorities before work can commence. This requirement could potentially delay the completion of the repair works, sources said.
Residents of Tripunithura are advised to store adequate water in advance to cope with the disruption. KWA has not yet announced any alternative arrangements, such as water tankers, but may provide updates as the situation develops.
For real-time updates on water supply and other civic issues, residents can check the official KWA website or local news portals. Meanwhile, gold and silver rates in Kochi, as well as bank and public holiday schedules, remain unaffected by this disruption.
