Details of the Incident

According to information shared with Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav by Visakhapatnam district health officials, as of 6:30 PM on Monday, the bodies of four out of the six deceased had been brought to the steel plant's general hospital. An official press release stated, 'A total of six casualties reported to the steel plant's general hospital.' Rescue operations were underway, with an official telling PTI, 'We are undertaking rescue operations.'

A press release from the office of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed that multiple workers were killed in the industrial accident. Naidu expressed deep anguish over the deaths and directed all departments to coordinate efforts to extend help to the affected families.

Cause of the Accident

According to police, the molten iron spilled while being moved in a bucket by a crane. The molten iron was extremely hot, at approximately 1,600 degrees Celsius, leading to fatal injuries for the workers.
