PM MITRA Textile Park in Amravati Achieves Major Milestone with First Phase Completion
The PM MITRA Textile Park located in Amravati has successfully completed its first phase of infrastructure development, marking a significant step forward for industrial growth in the region. Union textile secretary Neelam Shami Rao conducted an inspection visit to the park on Friday and expressed high satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.
Infrastructure Details and Future Plans
Spanning an expansive area of 1,020 acres, the park has finalized several critical infrastructure projects essential for operational readiness. Key accomplishments include:
- Construction of roads and drainage systems
- Completion of cable laying and street lighting installations
- Establishment of reliable water supply systems
Looking ahead, the park has ambitious plans to enhance sustainability and innovation. A 100-acre solar power plant is in the pipeline to support energy needs, while a Dutch company is set to invest in a specialized cotton processing and research and development center covering 66 acres. This initiative is poised to drive technological advancements in the textile sector.
Economic Impact and Employment Generation
The project is anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities, contributing to regional economic development. District Collector Ashish Yerekar emphasized the park's potential to significantly boost industrial growth in Amravati and surrounding areas, highlighting its role in attracting investments and creating jobs.
Broader Context of the PM MITRA Scheme
This development is part of the larger PM MITRA scheme, a government initiative aimed at establishing seven integrated textile parks across India. The scheme targets attracting investments worth Rs 70,000 crore and generating approximately 20 lakh jobs nationwide, positioning India as a global leader in textile manufacturing and innovation.
