Bhagalpur Hosts Udyog Samvad to Boost Industry & Entrepreneurship in Bihar
Bhagalpur Udyog Samvad Aims to Spur Industrial Growth

In a significant push to foster industrial development and entrepreneurship, Bhagalpur district in Bihar organized a unique 'Udyog Samvad' or Industrial Dialogue program. The event, held under the state government's ambitious Saat Nischay-3 (Seven Resolves) programme and the 'Prosperous Industry-Strong Bihar' initiative, took place at Resham Bhawan on Monday.

Dialogue for Development: Stakeholders Converge

The day-long interactive session was chaired by District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Chaudhary. It saw active participation from a wide array of stakeholders, including district officials, representatives from the industries department, the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), and local entrepreneurs. The core agenda was to brainstorm and identify mechanisms for better support to facilitate industrial expansion within the district.

Key discussions revolved around the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package-2025, the existing and required facilities for industrial development in Bhagalpur, future institutional support, and the specific challenges faced by industrialists across various sectors. The dialogue aimed to bridge the gap between policy intent and ground-level execution.

Government's Vision and District Potential

District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Chaudhary emphasized the state government's commitment to expanding industries with a strong focus on improving the ease of doing business. He stated that such dialogues are crucial to encourage local entrepreneurship and attract investments.

Highlighting the direct benefits, the DM noted that robust industrial development would not only give a major boost to the local economy but also create substantial employment opportunities. This, he said, could help retain skilled and unskilled workers who currently migrate outside the state for work, allowing them to live with their families in Bihar.

He elaborated on the vast untapped potential of the Bhagalpur region, pinpointing specific sectors ripe for investment and growth. These include:

  • Food processing and agriculture-based industries
  • Tussar silk production and related textiles
  • Processing of local produce like mango, banana, makhana, katarni rice
  • Edible oil, foodgrains, and sugar cane industries

Focus on Youth and Skill Development

A notable point from the dialogue was the emphasis on engaging local youth. The DM urged entrepreneurs to consider hiring fresh graduates as interns. This move is envisioned as a dual-benefit strategy: it helps young people develop practical skills while simultaneously creating employment pathways and addressing the skill gap in the local industrial ecosystem.

The 'Udyog Samvad' in Bhagalpur marks a concrete step towards translating the state's industrial policies into actionable outcomes at the district level. By facilitating direct conversation between officials and entrepreneurs, the administration aims to resolve bottlenecks and create a more conducive environment for business growth and job creation in the region.
