Bhopal Railway Division Reports Stellar Performance in FY 2025-26
The Bhopal Division of West Central Railway has announced remarkable achievements across multiple operational areas for the financial year 2025-26. Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi revealed these impressive results during a press conference held on Friday, highlighting substantial growth in revenue, passenger services, freight operations, and digital infrastructure enhancements.
New Services and Upgrades Boost Passenger Experience
Tyagi emphasized the introduction of several new train services designed to improve connectivity and convenience for travelers. Key additions include the tri-weekly Bhopal-Dhanbad Express and the weekly Bhopal-Chopan Express, which have expanded regional rail networks. Furthermore, the division implemented strategic stoppages for 16 trains at 10 different stations, enhancing accessibility for local communities.
Significant upgrades were also made to existing services, with the Bhopal-Khajuraho Mahamana Express and Rani Kamalapati-Adhartal Express receiving modern LHB coaches, offering passengers improved safety and comfort. To meet increased demand, the division operated an impressive total of 8,923 special trains throughout the year.
Freight Operations Show Strong Financial Growth
Freight revenue witnessed a substantial surge, reaching Rs 896.38 crore, which represents a notable 13.99% increase compared to previous periods. This growth was supported by a 4.03% rise in tonnage and a 5.42% improvement in wagon utilization efficiency, indicating optimized operational management and enhanced logistics capabilities.
Passenger Traffic and Revenue on the Rise
Passenger traffic experienced a healthy uptick, climbing 6.62% to reach 414.80 lakh passengers. This increase in ridership translated into passenger revenue of Rs 1,013.78 crore, marking a 6.50% growth. A particularly strong performance was noted in unreserved ticket sales, which jumped by 12.32%, reflecting broader accessibility and demand for rail travel.
Explosive Growth in Non-Fare Revenue Streams
Non-fare revenue demonstrated extraordinary expansion, skyrocketing by 125.18% and exceeding set targets by 5.82%. This category includes various ancillary services that contributed significantly to overall earnings:
- Parking revenue increased by 34.09%
- ATM operations surged by an astounding 424.13%
- 'Pay & Use' facilities grew by 22.93%
These figures underscore the division's successful diversification of revenue sources and effective implementation of digital and convenience-based services.
The comprehensive performance report from the Bhopal Division highlights a year of strategic initiatives and operational excellence, positioning West Central Railway for continued growth and enhanced service delivery in the coming fiscal periods.
