Bihar's Largest Industrial Expo Launched in Patna to Boost Local Manufacturing
The Bihar Industries Association (BIA) officially inaugurated its eighth industrial expo in Patna on Thursday, marking a significant effort to highlight local manufacturing capabilities and draw fresh investment to the state. This five-day event, titled Destination Bihar 2026, is being held at Gandhi Maidan under the compelling theme "Now or Never," emphasizing the urgency of industrial growth in the region.
Government Commitment to Industrial Vision
Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary inaugurated the exhibition, expressing the government's strong determination to establish Bihar as a recognized industrial state. He stated, "Our goal is to give Bihar's products a strong national identity. The next 5 years will belong to Bihar and to its industries." Choudhary added that every department of the state government is actively working with an industrial vision, underscoring a unified approach towards economic development.
Expo Features and Participation
The expo boasts participation from various government departments, including industry, tourism, and agriculture, alongside national banking institutions. BIA President Ram Lall Khetan highlighted that this edition is the largest so far, with the highest number of exhibitors. He remarked, "If even 5 people get motivated to set up industries here, that will be very good for the state." Khetan also noted that increased industrialization would generate employment opportunities, with 60 exhibits specifically dedicated to solar energy awareness, reflecting a focus on sustainable development.
Opportunities for Start-ups and Businesses
Pranay Raj, Executive Secretary of CREDAI Bihar, emphasized the expo's role in providing visibility and footfall for start-ups and businesses. He explained, "Leads get generated for potential buyers and investors." The event facilitates crucial networking among investors and industry stakeholders, fostering collaborations that could drive economic growth. Manish Dudwewala, representing a Bihar-based solar energy company, shared his expectations: "The expectation is to collaborate with bigger industries, where electricity is a bigger expense."
Showcasing Local Products and Innovations
In the food processing sector, Nishi, owner of a makhana brand from Hajipur, discussed the potential market for local products. She said, "People know makhana but do not know that makhana is from Bihar. People in Bihar are not fond of makhana, and we saw a potential market here." Her four-month-old start-up aims to enter white labelling to expand its network, showcasing how the expo supports entrepreneurial ventures.
Inclusive Initiatives and Event Details
The exhibition, which will continue until March 2, includes subsidized stalls for women and entrepreneurs from economically weaker sections, promoting inclusivity and support for diverse business owners. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering a vibrant industrial ecosystem in Bihar.
Overall, the Destination Bihar 2026 expo serves as a pivotal platform for showcasing Bihar's industrial potential, attracting investment, and driving economic development through collaborative efforts between the government, industry, and local entrepreneurs.
