In a significant breakthrough, the crime branch of Dahod police intercepted a Rajasthan-registered truck on the Zalod-Sanjeli road and seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) valued at Rs 19.38 lakh. The contraband was cleverly concealed under bags of cement to evade detection.
Operation Details
Crime branch personnel were conducting routine patrol when they received intelligence about a truck bearing registration number RJ-09-GE-6721 transporting illicit liquor through the district. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the team maintained surveillance and eventually stopped the vehicle for a thorough search.
Recovery and Arrest
The search resulted in the recovery of 499 boxes containing a total of 14,040 IMFL bottles and beer cans. The driver, identified as Raju Keer, a 29-year-old resident of Sakariya village in Nimbaheda taluka of Chittorgarh district, Rajasthan, was taken into custody immediately.
Investigation Underway
Police officials confirmed that Keer is currently being interrogated to uncover the origin of the liquor consignment and its intended destination. Efforts are also being made to identify other individuals involved in the smuggling network. The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb illegal liquor trade in the region.
