Essar Energy Transition Fuels Renews USD 300 Million Crude Facility with Petraco
Essar Energy Transition has renewed its strategic partnership with Petraco Oil Company SA, securing a three-year, USD 300 million crude and product facility for its Stanlow Refinery in the UK. The announcement was made on July 6, 2026, highlighting the company's commitment to low-carbon energy solutions and industrial decarbonisation.
The renewed facility strengthens Essar Energy Transition Fuels' feedstock security in a volatile global energy market, enhancing its ability to respond to changing conditions and capture value across refining and trading activities. It also provides stability to the company's capital structure.
Strategic Partnership with Petraco Oil Company SA
According to the official release, this transaction represents a key step in deepening Essar Energy Transition Fuels' relationship with leading industry players like Petraco. The facility is expected to support the company's ongoing investments in low-carbon energy and decarbonisation of its industrial assets at the Stanlow Refinery.
Satish Vasooja, Chief Financial Officer at Essar Energy Transition Fuels, expressed delight at renewing the partnership: "This important transaction demonstrates the strength of this strategic relationship and will ensure that we can build on our strong commercial performance."
Alberto Salsiccia, Chief Financial Officer at Petraco Oil Company SA, added: "We're pleased to have concluded this trading facility for the next three years with Essar, a UK national energy player. This demonstrates Petraco's varied ability to collaborate with partners and drive mutual benefits."
Impact on Operations and Market Position
The renewed facility not only secures crude supply for the Stanlow Refinery but also enhances Essar's trading capabilities. By locking in a USD 300 million line of credit, the company can optimise its procurement and inventory management, mitigating risks from price fluctuations and supply disruptions. This move aligns with Essar Energy Transition's broader strategy to transition towards cleaner energy while maintaining operational efficiency.
The Stanlow Refinery, one of the UK's largest refineries, plays a critical role in the country's fuel supply. The decarbonisation initiatives at the site include investments in hydrogen production, carbon capture, and biofuel technologies, positioning Essar as a key player in the energy transition.
