Major Fire Erupts at Paint Factory in Greater Noida, No Casualties Reported
A significant fire broke out at a paint manufacturing unit in the Site 4 area of Greater Noida on Wednesday, sparking panic across the surrounding industrial zone. The incident occurred at a facility owned by Colortax Polymarks Company, leading to substantial property damage estimated at several lakhs of rupees.
Fire Department Response and Challenges
Officials confirmed that the factory was closed at the time, resulting in no casualties. The fire department was alerted about the blaze at 4:01 PM, prompting the immediate dispatch of two fire tenders to the scene. Firefighters quickly initiated efforts to control the flames, but the presence of thinner and other highly flammable chemicals inside the unit intensified the fire, creating a challenging situation for rescue teams.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey described the scene, stating, "Thick black smoke billowed as the flames spread rapidly across the premises. Explosions from thinner drums raised concerns among workers in nearby industrial units." In response, additional fire tenders were rushed to the site, with a total of around six fire engines deployed to bring the blaze under control.
Successful Containment and Investigation
Firefighters battled the inferno for nearly 45 minutes before successfully dousing it and preventing it from spreading to adjacent factories. Officials credited the timely action of the fire department with averting a potential major disaster in the industrial area.
Preliminary findings suggest that the fire may have spread quickly due to the chemical substances used in paint manufacturing. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire, while an assessment of damages is currently underway. This incident highlights the risks associated with industrial units handling flammable materials and underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols.
