Lucknow: Two residents of a building were rescued after a fire broke out at a beauty parlour in the Christian Colony area of Hazratganj early Thursday, officials said, adding that no casualties were reported.

According to the fire department, the control room at Hazratganj fire station received information about the blaze at 5:42 am. The fire was reported at a parlour operating at 29, Christian Colony. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot along with firefighting teams. Chowk fire station in-charge Pushpendra Yadav arrived to supervise rescue and firefighting operations.

Firefighters found that the blaze had erupted in the parlour on the ground floor of the multi-storey building, while the upper floors were used for residential purposes. Thick smoke quickly engulfed the structure, forcing two occupants to take shelter on the terrace.

Fire personnel deployed ladders and safely evacuated residents Hafeez Ullah and Shadab Khan. The teams simultaneously launched firefighting operations using water tenders and pumps, while smoke exhaust systems were used to clear dense fumes from the building and prevented the fire from spreading to upper floors.

After sustained efforts, the blaze was brought under control. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The parlour is operated by Deepika Rathore. Preliminary inputs suggest a short circuit as the likely cause of the fire. Officials said a detailed assessment will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause and extent of damage.
