Governor Kataria Highlights Cycle Sector Potential in Ludhiana

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stated on Saturday that the bicycle industry possesses significant potential and called on local industrialists to back this sector. He also appealed to them to adopt children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, providing educational support and capacity building.

Event Highlights

Kataria was in Ludhiana as the chief guest at the All-India Cycle Manufacturers’ Association (AICMA) fifth award ceremony, which celebrated excellence, innovation, and dedication in the bicycle sector. During the event, seven awards were presented to individuals and organizations that have shaped the industry. Additionally, 27 top-performing schoolchildren, including 10 from the district, received new bicycles.

Government Support

The Governor praised AICMA for promoting innovation and emphasized the socio-economic importance of the bicycle industry. Minister for Industries and Commerce Aman Arora assured that the state government would fully support the bicycle sector, which is primarily based in Punjab. He mentioned that the Industries Department would consider establishing a world-class research and development center and address other industry demands with the central government.
