Haryana Firm Faces Legal Action for Unauthorised Agricultural Inputs
In a significant enforcement action, an FIR has been registered against a Haryana-based firm for the storage and sale of unauthorised agricultural inputs, as announced by Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Wednesday. The crackdown targets M/s Unitech Crop Science, a Jhajjar-based company with a godown in Malerkotla, following a surprise inspection that revealed illicit stock.
Surprise Inspection Uncovers Illegal Stock
During the inspection, authorities discovered a substantial quantity of unauthorised fertilisers and insecticides on the premises of M/s Unitech Crop Science. Minister Khudian stated that the unauthorised stock was immediately seized to prevent its distribution to farmers, ensuring it does not compromise agricultural safety or quality standards.
Legal Framework and FIR Details
The action was taken under the provisions of the Fertilisers (Control) Order, 1985, the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the Insecticides Act, 1968. Additionally, an FIR was registered under Section 318(4) of the BNS at the Amargarh police station in Malerkotla district. This legal step underscores the government's commitment to enforcing statutory regulations in the agricultural sector.
Government's Stance on Agricultural Compliance
Minister Khudian emphasised a zero-tolerance policy towards violations, stating, "We will not allow any violation of statutory provisions related to fertilisers and insecticides. Strict action will continue against any individual or firm found involved in the manufacture, storage or sale of unauthorised agricultural products." This declaration highlights ongoing efforts to protect farmers from substandard inputs.
State-Wide Inspections Intensified
Gurjit Singh Brar, Director of Agriculture, noted that the department has ramped up inspections across the state. This initiative aims to safeguard farmers' interests by maintaining transparency and upholding quality standards in the agricultural input supply chain, ensuring that only authorised products reach the market.
