Nagpur: Hemant Pande has officially assumed the role of chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a major subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Pande, who previously served as the director (human resources) of the company headquartered in Nagpur, brings a wealth of experience and academic excellence to his new position.
Educational Background and Expertise
Pande is a graduate in mining engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) and holds a Master of Technology degree in mining. He has also earned a doctorate in management, showcasing his commitment to both technical and managerial fields. Furthermore, he has completed advanced global techno-management training at the European Business School, equipping him with international perspectives on industry practices.
Contributions as HR Director
During his tenure as director of human resources, Pande introduced a new portal designed to enhance healthcare and dispensary management systems. He also prioritized improving industrial relations and ensuring better medical facilities for retired employees, according to a press release issued by WCL.
