Hindustan Power Wins 150 MW Solar & 300 MWh Battery Storage Project from SECI
Hindustan Power Wins SECI Solar & Battery Storage Bid

In a significant boost to India's renewable energy sector, Hindustan Power has emerged victorious in a competitive bid floated by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The integrated energy company has secured rights to develop a comprehensive solar and battery energy storage project that marks a pivotal step in the nation's clean energy journey.

Project Specifications and Strategic Importance

The newly awarded project features a contracted capacity of 150 MW of solar power that will require the installation of approximately 300 MWp of solar capacity combined with 300 MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This substantial undertaking will be developed under the 'SECI–ISTS–XX' tender framework, specifically designed for flexible deployment across suitable locations throughout India.

Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, emphasized the strategic nature of this development, highlighting the company's focused approach toward building flexible, storage-led renewable assets that align perfectly with India's evolving power infrastructure requirements. The project was secured through a rigorous tariff-based competitive bidding process, culminating in a Reverse Auction (e-RA) conducted on the ETS portal.

Enhancing Grid Stability and Clean Energy Delivery

The integration of solar generation with advanced battery storage represents a technological leap forward for India's renewable landscape. This combination will enable enhanced grid reliability, improved power management during peak demand hours, and ensure a more stable supply of clean energy to consumers nationwide.

"This project reflects our continuous commitment to advancing India's transition toward a modern, flexible, and future-ready energy ecosystem," stated Puri. "Our focus remains on building assets that deliver stability and efficiency, as we continue to build future-ready energy infrastructure that supports India's clean-energy ambitions."

Expanding Renewable Portfolio Across India

This SECI award represents another strategic milestone in Hindustan Power's ongoing efforts to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio and contribute substantially to India's clean energy goals. The company is currently developing multiple clean-energy projects across various states, demonstrating its pan-India commitment to sustainable power generation.

The company's current project pipeline includes:

  • A 435 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh
  • A 100 MW solar power plant with 100 MW battery-energy storage system in Assam
  • A 120 MWh battery-storage project in Bihar
  • A newly secured contract from SJVN Limited to build a 100 MW solar project paired with 200 MWh battery-storage system

Collectively, these initiatives underscore Hindustan Power's determined commitment to expanding India's clean-energy footprint while supporting national objectives for sustainability, energy security, and the widespread delivery of reliable clean power.
