Major Chemical Blaze Engulfs Indore Factory, Prompting Heroic Rescue
Panic and chaos erupted in the Palda industrial zone of Indore on Wednesday afternoon as a massive fire broke out at a factory specializing in pest control product manufacturing. The inferno, which ignited around 11 am, produced dense, black columns of smoke that were visible from several kilometers away, alarming residents across the city.
Highly Flammable Materials Fuel Rapid Fire Spread
The factory, reportedly owned by a local businessman, was stocked with highly inflammable chemicals and raw materials used in pest control formulations. This dangerous inventory caused the flames to spread with alarming and terrifying speed, creating an extremely hazardous environment for anyone inside or near the structure.
Local Heroism Saves Trapped Workers
In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, local corporator Kunal Solanki and several area residents rushed to the scene upon hearing the desperate screams of trapped workers. They managed to execute a daring rescue operation, pulling a group of laborers to safety just as the intensifying flames began to block the building's exits.
Approximately 11 workers sustained minor injuries and suffered from smoke inhalation during the terrifying ordeal. All were immediately transported to a nearby hospital where they received urgent medical attention, including oxygen support. Medical professionals have since confirmed that all injured individuals are now out of danger and recovering.
Fire Brigade's Intense 90-Minute Battle
The Indore fire brigade responded with multiple fire tenders to combat the raging blaze. Firefighters engaged in a rigorous and challenging 90-minute operation before finally bringing the inferno under control. Preliminary investigations indicate that chemical solvents present at the site acted as powerful accelerants, significantly complicating initial firefighting efforts.
The suspected cause of this devastating fire is currently believed to be an electrical short circuit, though authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Separate Vehicle Fire Incident on Same Day
In an unrelated incident occurring on the same Wednesday, an Activa scooter caught fire near the IT Park in Indore's Bhanwarkuan area. The alert rider noticed sparks emanating from the vehicle and managed to leap to safety moments before the scooter became fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters responded promptly and successfully extinguished this secondary blaze.
These back-to-back fire incidents have raised serious concerns about fire safety protocols and emergency preparedness within Indore's industrial and urban areas, prompting calls for enhanced safety measures and regular inspections.
