Indore Proposes Monthly Fee on Cinema Hall Ads

Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has announced a regulatory proposal to impose a monthly fee on cinema halls and multiplexes that display commercial advertisements during movie screenings. The move aims to generate additional revenue for the civic body.

Proposal Details

According to IMC additional commissioner Akash Singh, the exhibition of advertisements on theatre screens falls under the state's entertainment policy, which grants local civic bodies the authority to regulate and fix fees. The proposal suggests a uniform fee of approximately Rs 25,000 per month for each individual screen that showcases commercial advertisements.

Singh explained that this initiative is part of an ongoing administrative strategy to augment the municipal corporation's internal revenue streams by tapping into commercial exhibition spaces. The proposal will be presented during the Mayor-in-Council meeting scheduled for Thursday.
