PM MITRA Park Investors Emphasize Need for Economical Ecosystem to Boost Competitiveness

Investors participating in the PM MITRA Park development at Bhainsola in Dhar have strongly advocated for the creation of an economically viable ecosystem to ensure the project remains competitive in both domestic and export markets. During a stakeholder consultation held with MPIDC officials on Tuesday, participants identified the cost of common services as a primary concern that could impact the park's overall success.

Key Concerns and Recommendations from Industry Stakeholders

Industry representatives stressed the urgent need to develop an ecosystem that places all textile units on an equal platform while creating an integrated value chain. Specific focus was placed on ensuring economical pricing for common services including the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), water supply, and various utilities proposed within the park infrastructure.

Several constructive suggestions emerged during the consultation:

  • Formation of a core committee comprising park allottees to deliberate on common issues and represent collective demands to authorities
  • Detailed study of service models implemented in other PM MITRA parks across India before finalizing service structures and agencies
  • Development of a transparent framework for pricing and managing shared infrastructure components

One industrialist present at the meeting articulated the collective sentiment: "We are attracted to this park because an ecosystem is being created here where all units, being from the textile sector, share common requirements and operational wavelengths. However, the fundamental determinant of success remains the cost components, which are absolutely crucial to making our industries economically viable."

Government Response and Project Progress Update

The consultation saw participation from senior government officials including Principal Secretary of Industries Raghvendra Singh and MPIDC Managing Director Chandramauli Shukla, who joined virtually. Indore Commissioner Sudam Khade attended in person and actively engaged with stakeholders throughout the proceedings.

MPIDC Managing Director Chandramauli Shukla expressed optimism about the project's trajectory, stating: "The response from industries has been extremely encouraging for the park development. To date, we have received 38 formal proposals with cumulative investment commitments exceeding Rs 21,500 crore. These investments are projected to generate approximately 55,000 employment opportunities. Our current priority focuses on accelerating plot possession processes, building essential social infrastructure, and ensuring early commissioning of anchor units to facilitate integrated textile manufacturing at scale."

Infrastructure Development Timeline and Components

Principal Secretary Raghvendra Singh outlined ambitious targets for the park's development, emphasizing that MPIDC aims to complete all basic infrastructure by June 2027. He encouraged industries to complete their construction activities and commence production by December 2027, assuring participants of complete transparency and regular review mechanisms for ongoing works.

MPIDC Executive Director Himanshu Prajapati provided detailed insights into the park's development plan:

  1. The park is being developed with a total investment of Rs 2,063 crore across five distinct phases
  2. Tenders worth Rs 773 crore have already been floated for critical infrastructure including roads, water supply systems, power distribution networks, drainage systems, and allied facilities
  3. All infrastructure work is progressing on priority basis to meet established timelines

The comprehensive park infrastructure will feature numerous shared facilities designed to support textile manufacturing operations:

  • Plug-and-play facilities for rapid operational commencement
  • Educational institutions including a school and Industrial Training Institute (ITI)
  • Testing and certification center for quality assurance
  • Research and Development facility for innovation
  • Skilling center for workforce development

The consultation highlighted the critical balance between developing world-class infrastructure and maintaining cost competitiveness that will determine the PM MITRA Park's success in attracting sustainable textile manufacturing investments to the region.
