Workers at two factories producing plastic sack rolls in Pancham Apurva, Kanpur, staged a protest on Monday demanding a salary increase, leading to police intervention to restore order.
Protest Details
Around 9:30 am, employees began demonstrating for higher wages and raised slogans against the management. Despite efforts by the management to pacify the workers, the unrest persisted until a substantial police force arrived and convinced them to disperse.
Police Response
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) SM Qasim Abidi confirmed that the demand for a salary hike was made at the two factories located in the Jhunjhunwala compound. He stated, "We have explained the situation to the workers, and they have temporarily agreed."
The protest highlights ongoing labor issues in the industrial sector, where workers often seek better compensation amid rising living costs. Further negotiations are expected to resolve the matter permanently.
