Karnataka Business Chamber Applauds State Budget, Calls for Swift Implementation
The Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KKCCI) has expressed strong support for the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday, describing it as a favorable and beneficial plan for the region's economic development.
Textile Park Funding and Silk Park Proposal Receive Praise
KKCCI Chairman Sharanabasappa M Pappa told media that the government's focus on the PM Mitra Mega Textile Park is particularly encouraging for industrial growth. While the budget has allocated Rs 75 crore for this project, Pappa emphasized the need for the state to release the full sanctioned amount of Rs 390 crore immediately to ensure faster implementation and maximize impact.
The chamber also welcomed the proposal to establish a dedicated silk park in Kalaburagi, noting that this initiative would significantly boost sericulture activities and promote textile-based industries across the entire Kalyana Karnataka region, creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the local economy.
Disappointment Over Missing Tur Park Despite GI Recognition
However, the business organization expressed clear disappointment over the state's failure to establish a much-anticipated tur park in Kalaburagi. This omission is particularly notable since the district's tur variety has already received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognizing its unique quality and origin.
A dedicated tur park would support comprehensive value addition, processing, branding, and export initiatives, ultimately benefiting both local farmers and the dal-milling sector through improved market access and higher returns, according to chamber representatives.
Knowledge Park and Implementation Priorities
In another positive development, the KKCCI welcomed the government's plan to establish a knowledge park in Jewargi using Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) funds. This initiative is expected to strengthen the region's industrial and educational ecosystem by fostering innovation and skill development.
The chamber has urged the state government to prioritize Kalyana Karnataka in the implementation of all budget announcements and ensure time-bound execution of proposed projects. This approach is crucial to meeting the aspirations of local industries and residents while maximizing the budget's developmental impact across the region.
Overall, while celebrating several forward-looking proposals, the business community has called for more substantial funding commitments and faster implementation timelines to translate budget announcements into tangible economic benefits for Kalyana Karnataka.
