Industry Leaders in Kolkata Emphasize Trust and Innovation for Future-Ready Businesses
In Kolkata, top industry figures have underscored that trust, innovation, and empowered organizational frameworks are essential for creating resilient and forward-looking institutions. This comes as businesses grapple with rapid technological advancements and shifting consumer expectations.
Key Insights from CII Eastern Region Conference
Speaking at the annual regional meeting and conference of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region, themed 'Vision with Velocity', ITC chairman Sanjeev Puri outlined that long-term institutional success hinges on three core pillars: vision, values, and vitality. Puri emphasized, "Reshaping the narrative of a legacy institution comes down to vision, values and vitality." He advised that businesses should transcend mere diversification by developing multiple growth drivers that align with market opportunities and institutional strengths.
Puri further suggested that large organizations should operate akin to "multiple startups within a larger institution." In such a model, empowered teams with clear accountability, along with access to technology and resources, can foster innovation and enhance agility, enabling quicker adaptation to market changes.
Trust and Evolution as Critical Factors
CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee highlighted the importance of institutions remaining grounded in trust and adopting a "country-first" mindset. He stressed that continuous evolution is necessary to tackle emerging challenges effectively, ensuring that businesses not only survive but thrive in dynamic environments.
Shobhana Kamineni, executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, pointed out that trust is paramount in sectors like healthcare, where human outcomes are directly involved. She stated, "Trust is something we earn every day through every patient interaction and outcome." Kamineni added that technology is playing a pivotal role in enabling healthcare providers to broaden access, standardize processes, and deliver high-quality care beyond major urban centers, thus enhancing reliability and efficiency.
Efficiency Driving Growth
Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of RPSG Group, concluded that growth naturally stems from efficient systems and processes. He emphasized that by streamlining operations and leveraging innovative practices, businesses can achieve sustainable expansion and better navigate the complexities of today's economic landscape.
Overall, the conference reinforced that building resilient institutions requires a balanced focus on trust, innovation, and structural empowerment, positioning businesses to succeed in an era of rapid change.
