Massive Fire at Cotton Mill in Khargone District

A massive fire broke out at Avanti Mill Workers Industrial Cooperative Society Ltd in Sanawad town of Khargone district on Friday afternoon, triggering panic in the area as large quantities of cotton bales were engulfed in flames.

Firefighting Efforts

Fire tenders from Sanawad, CISF Barwaha, NTPC Selda, and Omkareshwar municipalities rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours, according to Sanawad police station in-charge Dharmendra Yadav.

Possible Cause and Damage

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, while the exact extent of damage was yet to be assessed. Mill chairman Vijay Gupta and general manager Dharmendra Mittal stated that the fire originated in the blowroom due to a short circuit and soon engulfed cotton bales stored there. Two machines in the blowroom section, used for cotton bale transfer and opening, were also damaged in the incident.
