Mercedes-Benz India Achieves Historic Sales Milestone in FY 2025-26
Mercedes-Benz India has reported its highest-ever fiscal sales, delivering 19,363 units in the financial year 2025-26. This remarkable achievement underscores the brand's dominant position in the luxury automotive market. The company also marked this period with the introduction of two exclusive new AMG models: the A45 S 4MATIC+ ‘Aero Track Edition’ and the GLE 53 Coupe 4MATIC+ ‘Performance Edition’, specifically tailored for Indian enthusiasts.
Quarterly Performance and Growth Drivers
In the January-March 2026 quarter, Mercedes-Benz India recorded sales of 5,131 units, representing a robust 7 per cent year-on-year increase compared to the 4,775 units sold in Q1 2025. This growth was fueled by sustained demand across both newly launched and existing product lines. Key factors contributing to this success include strategic network expansion and an unwavering focus on enhancing customer experience, which have collectively strengthened the brand's market presence.
Top-End Luxury Segment Leads the Charge
The sales performance during the fiscal year was primarily driven by the Top-End Luxury segment, which experienced an impressive 16 per cent growth and contributed 27 per cent of total volumes. In Q1 2026 alone, this segment saw a 25 per cent surge, supported by high demand for flagship models such as the S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach range, the EQS SUV, and the AMG portfolio. Notably, waiting periods for select models like the AMG G63 and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class currently range from 4 months to 1 year, reflecting strong consumer interest.
Electric Vehicle Momentum and Core Segment Stability
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) continued to gain significant traction within the Top-End segment, accounting for 20 per cent of its total sales in FY 2025-26. BEVs priced above Rs 1.4 crore recorded an extraordinary 85 per cent year-on-year increase, driven by popularity of models like the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV, and the electric G-Class. The EQS SUV emerged as the highest-selling BEV in Mercedes-Benz India’s portfolio, highlighting the growing acceptance of premium electric mobility.
The Core segment, encompassing the C-Class, long wheelbase (LWB) E-Class, GLC, and GLE, remained a vital contributor to overall volumes. The LWB E-Class continued its reign as the highest-selling luxury sedan in India, with particular demand for the E 450 variant.
Market Dynamics and Strategic Focus
In contrast, the Entry Luxury segment declined by 18 per cent during FY 2025-26, amid a market shift towards lower-priced products supported by incentives. Mercedes-Benz emphasized its commitment to prioritizing product content and customer aspiration over price-led volume growth, reinforcing its premium positioning.
The company highlighted robust demand for its AMG and Maybach portfolios, indicating a growing customer preference for high-performance and ultra-luxury vehicles. Mercedes-Benz stated it will continue to focus on value-led growth, supported by product differentiation and fostering customer loyalty.
Future Plans: Electrification and Retail Expansion
Mercedes-Benz is set to expand its electric portfolio further with the launch of the all-new CLA EV on April 24, 2026. This model will be the first of the company’s next-generation software-defined electric vehicles, forming a crucial part of its broader electrification strategy in India.
As part of its aggressive retail expansion, Mercedes-Benz India plans to establish more than 20 luxury outlets in 2026, with investments exceeding Rs 450 crore from franchise partners. The company will enter new markets such as Visakhapatnam and Varanasi, while strengthening its presence in key cities including Pune, Goa, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR. In Q1 2026, new facilities were inaugurated in Bengaluru, Bhopal, and Raipur, enhancing accessibility for customers.
