Nagpur Fuel Supply Remains Stable Amid Gulf Tensions

Amid growing concerns over potential supply disruptions due to the escalating Gulf crisis, officials from major oil marketing companies have provided reassurances regarding fuel availability in Nagpur. They have confirmed that depots in and around the city maintain sufficient stocks of both petrol and diesel, with no shortages expected in the immediate future.

Depot Stock Levels and Supply Chain Details

The nearest major depot, operated by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), is located at Borkhedi, approximately 30 kilometers from Nagpur. A senior official from the company verified that the facility currently holds adequate fuel reserves. Furthermore, a fresh rake of supplies is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, ensuring continuous replenishment.

Other oil companies primarily depend on the Nayara Energy terminal situated in Wardha, which also reports ample inventory at present. Additionally, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) manages a depot in Akola, while Indian Oil Corporation maintains a facility in Chandrapur, contributing to the regional supply network.

Market Conditions and Dealer Perspectives

Petrol pumps across Nagpur have witnessed moderate customer traffic, with no indications of panic buying or widespread concern among consumers. Amit Gupta, president of the Federation of Maharashtra Petroleum Dealers Association (FAMPEDA), Vidarbha unit, stated, "The oil companies have assured us of sufficient petrol and diesel availability."

Gupta highlighted that some fuel stations were temporarily closed due to the Holi festival, leading to minor delays in fresh loading operations as many drivers were on leave for the celebrations. Nagpur city encompasses a total of 105 petrol pumps, all of which are expected to operate normally as the supply chain remains intact.

The assurances from officials come against the backdrop of international tensions, including recent developments such as Israel's attacks on Iran and the broader West Asia crisis, which have raised fears about global oil supply chains. However, local authorities emphasize that contingency plans and existing stockpiles are sufficient to mitigate any immediate impact on Nagpur's fuel supply.
