Noida Industrial Activity Returns to Normal Under Heavy Police Deployment

Industrial operations in Noida returned to normalcy on Thursday following days of significant worker unrest over demands for higher wages. The resumption occurred under substantial police deployment, with Provincial Armed Constabulary units actively patrolling industrial areas and officers stationed outside major manufacturing facilities.

Authorities Report Smooth Operations with Continued Vigilance

Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Narayan Mishra confirmed that all factories operated smoothly throughout the day, with no reports of disruption or violence. However, authorities maintained close monitoring of the situation and kept strict surveillance on individuals involved in earlier protests.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and keeping a strict watch on people involved in protests earlier," Mishra stated, emphasizing the ongoing security measures.

Isolated Incidents Despite Overall Calm

Despite the general return to normalcy, isolated protest incidents were reported from Sector 59. Police closed the gates of the Spark Minda factory around 8:50 am after a group of workers gathered outside in what authorities suspected could be a protest demonstration. Three workers were taken into custody during this incident but were released later in the evening.

Near the Sector 51 metro station, a separate group of sanitation workers assembled but were successfully persuaded by police to disperse peacefully without incident.

Massive Security Deployment Across Industrial Zones

Officials revealed that strict vigilance would continue across the city, with any attempts to disrupt normalcy being dealt with firmly. Beyond Noida's existing police force of approximately 5,000 personnel, security reinforcements included:

  • 15 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary
  • One company of Rapid Action Force
  • Two DIG-rank officers
  • Five Superintendents of Police
  • 15 additional Deputy Commissioners of Police
  • 40 Assistant Commissioners of Police
  • 52 police inspectors
  • 200 sub-inspectors
  • Approximately 2,000 constables drawn from neighboring districts

This enhanced security force will continue patrolling roads and industrial areas over the next three days to ensure sustained normalcy.

Investigation and Identification Efforts Intensify

Investigators are currently reviewing thousands of video clips from multiple sources to identify individuals involved in earlier violence. This comprehensive review includes:

  1. CCTV camera footage from across the city
  2. Recordings collected under the Operation Trinetra surveillance network
  3. Factory security recordings
  4. Social media material related to the protests

Factory managements are actively assisting police in distinguishing regular workers from outsiders who may have participated in the unrest, facilitating more accurate identification of those involved.

Previous Violence and Legal Actions

The current security measures follow significant violence during Monday's labour protests, when mobs vandalized property and torched vehicles. Police have already arrested 500 people in connection with this violence, and authorities have filed thirteen First Information Reports at different police stations.

These FIRs include charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections covering:

  • Rioting
  • Voluntarily causing hurt
  • Assault or use of criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation
  • Common intention
  • Wrongful restraint

The extensive police presence and ongoing investigations represent a comprehensive response to restore and maintain industrial normalcy in Noida while addressing the underlying issues that sparked the initial worker unrest over wage demands.
