Enhanced Sectoral Representation

According to the official release, the expansion of sector indices aims to provide more comprehensive and granular coverage across both established and emerging sectors of the Indian economy. Benchmarking and Investment Products

The new indices are expected to serve as performance benchmarks for asset managers. They may also be utilized as reference indices for passive investment products such as Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), index funds, and structured products. The release noted that these indices are designed to act as benchmarks for asset managers and be tracked by passive funds.

This initiative by NSE Indices is part of a broader effort to offer investors and fund managers more precise tools for tracking specific sectors, thereby facilitating more targeted investment strategies. With the addition of these indices, NSE Indices now provides a more extensive suite of sectoral benchmarks, covering a wider array of industries from traditional sectors like power and construction to fast-growing areas such as retail and hospitals.
