The Odisha state government will organize a three-day Matsya Pranee Samavesh Odisha event from January 21 to 23. This major gathering takes place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. The conclave focuses on promoting innovation and raising awareness in the fisheries and livestock sectors.
Minister Announces Event Details
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik announced the event at a press meet on Monday. He stated the conclave aims to boost prosperity among fish farmers, livestock rearers, and women self-help group members. The initiative reinforces Odisha's push toward self-reliance in milk, meat, egg, and fish production.
High-Profile Inauguration and Theme
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the event. The theme is "Innovative interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha." Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati will attend the valedictory ceremony on the final day.
Expected Participation and Awards
More than 8,000 farmers, entrepreneurs, and self-help group members are expected to participate. Organizers will award 348 performers from various sub-divisions as sector "Champions." Twenty officers from the fisheries and animal resources development departments will also receive felicitation.
Event Activities and Exhibitions
The conclave will host twelve panel discussions and an 'Ask the Minister' session. More than one hundred exhibitors will showcase modern technologies across three hangars. Live demonstrations will occur in two open hangars, featuring bio-floc units, cage culture fish farming, sex-sorted semen calves, and climate-controlled poultry systems.
Special Animal Attractions
Key animal attractions include Murrah buffaloes from Haryana, a Kankrej bull from Gujarat, and Punganur cattle from Andhra Pradesh. These displays highlight diverse livestock breeds and their potential for local farmers.
Public Engagement Events
A range of public engagement events will run alongside the main program. These include virtual reality farm tours, pet shows, drone and laser shows, kids zones, and various exhibitions. These activities aim to make the event engaging for families and the general public.
Opening Day and Cultural Programs
The event begins with a walkathon from Kalinga Stadium at 6 am on January 21. Students from veterinary, fisheries, and management institutions will participate in elocution and painting competitions. Cultural evenings will feature performances of Sambalpuri, Dhemsa, Odissi, and Chhau dance forms.
