Patratu Power Plant Invites Jharkhand CM After Unit Commissioning

In a significant development for Jharkhand's energy sector, the Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) has formally invited Chief Minister Hemant Soren to visit its newly operational power plant in Ramgarh. This move follows the successful commencement of commercial production from the facility's first major unit.

CEO Extends Formal Invitation to Chief Minister

A K Sehgal, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PVUNL, personally visited the Chief Minister's residential office on Saturday to extend the courtesy invitation. The meeting served as an opportunity to brief the state's leader on the project's recent milestones and future roadmap. PVUNL is a joint venture subsidiary formed by the state-owned National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL).

During the discussion, Sehgal acknowledged the pivotal role played by the state government. He emphasized that the project's progress was directly attributable to the consistent support received from the Jharkhand administration.

Project Milestones and Future Targets

The power project has achieved a critical milestone with the commissioning of its first 800-megawatt (MW) unit in November 2025. This marks the beginning of commercial power generation from this mega venture.

The focus now shifts to the second unit, which also boasts an 800MW capacity. The company has set an ambitious target to commission this subsequent unit by the conclusion of the current fiscal year. The successful activation of both units will significantly bolster the power supply infrastructure in the region.

Assurance of Continued Support and Cooperation

Chief Minister Hemant Soren responded positively to the invitation conveyed by CEO Sehgal. The CM assured the PVUNL leadership of his administration's continued and full support for the power project. He also conveyed his willingness to visit the plant site in the near future.

This high-level engagement underscores the project's importance to the state's economic and industrial development. The Patratu plant is poised to play a crucial role in meeting Jharkhand's growing electricity demands and supporting its developmental agenda.
