Railways Enforces Queue-Based Boarding System at Patna Stations to Tackle Post-Holi Passenger Surge
In response to the overwhelming rush of passengers returning to their destinations after the Holi festival, Indian Railways has implemented a strict queue-based boarding system at all major stations in Patna, including Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Danapur. This initiative aims to streamline passenger movement and ensure orderly boarding during the peak festive return period.
Special Measures for High-Demand Trains
The arrangement is being rigorously enforced for the New Delhi-bound Sampoorna Kranti Express, one of the most sought-after trains during this time. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been deployed in large numbers to regulate queues and facilitate smooth boarding for passengers.
Increased Train Services and Crowd Management
According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager Abhinav Siddarth, the railways has initiated special measures to handle the surge in passenger traffic. He revealed that at least 10 to 15 special trains are originating daily from the Danapur division to help clear the post-Holi rush.
Under these special arrangements, railway officials and commercial staff have been stationed at Patna Junction, Danapur, and other major stations to monitor crowd management and assist passengers. The railways has also introduced designated holding areas for passengers arriving early at the stations.
Holding Areas and Enhanced Facilities
Passengers reaching Patna Junction or Danapur well ahead of their train's arrival are directed to wait in these holding areas and enter the station premises or platforms only when their train arrives. To facilitate local commuters, unreserved ticketing system (UTS) devices have been installed in the holding areas, allowing passengers to obtain tickets without hassle.
War Rooms and Real-Time Monitoring
Additionally, war rooms have been established at the East Central Railway (ECR) headquarters in Hajipur and at the Danapur control room to maintain close surveillance on passenger movement through CCTV cameras across key locations. Siddarth noted that regular announcements are being made through the public address system at stations, while updates about train movements are being shared through social media platforms.
These comprehensive measures reflect Indian Railways' proactive approach to managing festive season crowds, ensuring passenger safety and convenience during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
